What a difference a day makes

What a difference a day makes.

Friday
All is lost.
Where are all his followers now?
Such fair-weather friends.
Nothing but the cynical and the broken-hearted left.
What was it that soldier said,
“How can he save anyone if he can’t even save himself”?
I can’t bear to look at him.
It’s a blessing that he’s already dead; he suffered so much.
Just look at him; I can’t help it now.
Such a devastating thing when the life goes out of a body.
I feel so helpless.
Can’t put it back.
Look at his mother: she’s so stoic.
Does she know something we don’t?
All that hope… all that promise…
Such a waste.

Saturday
Why get up?
What will we do now?
It’s just another Sabbath hoping for another Messiah.
Back to what’s defined us…
That fatalistic hope…
I should have known it would end like this.
It’s over.
I knew it was too good to be true.
What a cruel joke – to give three years of your life
To wake up with it all gone.
That does it…
Tomorrow, I’m going fishing.

Sunday
What is this?
The women are simply buzzing with excitement.
I want to say they’re delusional
But look at their eyes.
These are the eyes of someone who’s seen something unbelievable…
Something undeniably real.
I know what it is to talk yourself into something
And this isn’t that.
They say he’s gone; the body’s gone.
Angels at the tomb…
Guards asleep…
Stone rolled away…
“Why are you seeking the living among the dead?”
And Mary’s even seen him
Thought he was the gardener until he spoke her name.
Holy Maccabee; it’s true.
He’s alive!

What does this mean?
It means nothing is the same.
This changes everything!
It’s not over; it’s just begun!

Wow! Excellent! I needed that. My will and spirit are just about gone, so I really needed a lift this morning. Thanks John!

    You are absolutely right John:

It means nothing is the same.
    This changes everything!
It’s not over; it’s just begun!

The love of God is complete in Christ
but it is not completed in us
    it is just the beginning

We complete the love of God
    whenever we do to these
what He has done for us

The more we allow the love of God
to flow through us to others
    the more we love God

And, the more we love God
the more we allow His love
to flow through us to others

    Flow river flow
    Like a river glorious
    From the Son of Love

I liked the way you told the story..

  4. Thanks John, Like Tim above I really needed this today. I need to remember that all things are possible in Christ and that God knows what He is doing in my life even though I don’t right now.

    Some things never change
It’s all about the Love of God

Friday was all about the Love of God
that why its called “The Passion”

Sunday was all about the Love of God
and now we have a new life

Today is all about the Love of God
and that is why we are still alive

May every breath of air we breathe
take in the Love of God

And, May every breath we exhale
profess the Love of God in Christ

I pray for TimC and Kevin right now that God would draw Tim and Kevin to Himself and that He’d wrap His arms around them and that He’d lift them up in the palm of His hand and bless them that the Love of God would fill their hearts with comfort, peace, and joy in the knowledge of the Love of God in Christ Jesus. May you both embrace the trials and valleys of life you are traveling with the faith that God is working all things together for your good and He will carry you through these trials and valleys to greener pastures. May you not lose hope and may you both trust in the Lord even when it may seem hopeless. May the Light of life shine brightly on you today, tomorrow, and through all eternity. May God bless you and keep you and make His face to shine upon you and give you peace. In Jesus name, AMEN.

I’ll add an Amen to Jim’s prayer for both Tim C & Kevin Plus liked this a lot: “…It’s not over; it’s just begun!” To that I’ll add a praise the Lord! 🙂

  8. That was great! Is there any way to share on FaceBook?

Well, you all… Thanks for the prayers. It’s been a rough three years in just about every way; you name it and its gone wrong. And last week a client who wasn’t paying me for work I have done for him decided to fire me, and I got shut off notices for the gas and electric. (The guy goes to church and drives a mercedes – sheesh. It’s probably wrong to pray for … oh forgive me; but I am human.) So on Friday I was getting really low. But when I picked up the mail, there was a letter from my sister. She had won some money in a grocery store game. She sent it to me. It covered the shut off notices. Sometimes God does strange things. Isn’t He amazing?!

And we had a great Easter service today, and I came home and cooked, and 3 of my 4 kids came over (my oldest son is in the Air Force.) It was the first time I had been able to gather the kids together since the big dumping two years ago. You know it’s really hard when the love of your life stabs you in the back and rips your heart out.

Yeah, sometimes life is messy. So thanks again for praying.
