I’ll always remember Chuck as he came onstage at a Twin Peaks pastor’s conference many years ago…. the place was packed… and he came out and sat down at the edge of the stage with his legs over the side and, Bible in hand, began to read Corinthians to us out loud in his slow, sincere way…. could have heard a pin drop…. he read, and then commented…. and read more, and commented. He was commenting on God’s love…. something most all those listeners had surely read of extensively…. but God’s Spirit was there in power, using Chuck. I marvelled at the simplicity of the message…. the love of God. I thought of the words of the two on the road to Emmaus, ….”were not our hearts burning…..?” God’s Truth spoken through an honest mouthpiece is a joy to behold. I can just see him now…. with that giant smile full on….. as he looks at His Face !
even thou i didn’t have the pleasure & honor of knowing him, i’ll certainly be praying for Chuch Smith’s family & all of his loved ones too.
