‘They will…’

th-14

I love the story of the young kindergartener who, when asked by her teacher what she was going to create for her art project, proudly announced she was going to draw a picture of God. To which the teacher announced, “But no one knows what God looks like.”

“They will in a minute,” came the bold reply.

She’s right, you know. She’s about to paint what God looks like to her, in her imagination, and she will be right. Not that God is relative to everyone’s idea of Him, but that He is so multifaceted that no one picture can capture all of Him, nor can all of the pictures together come close to fully showing Him.

She is also right about the fact that we bring God to people, not only because are we are formed in His image, but because He dwells in us by faith.

What I love most assuredly about this statement is its audacity. “Oh, they’ll know all right, because I am about to reveal Him to them.” Would that we were all that confident about our ability to represent Christ to the world.

This was a major part of Christ’s role while on earth — to represent God to us. “He who has seen me has seen the Father” He said many times in many ways.

Our task is no less significant. If part of Jesus’ purpose was to reveal God to us, part of ours is to reveal Jesus to others. “Christ in you, the hope of glory,” Paul wrote. What will that look like? One thing we know is that it will look like you.

What a great thing to focus on as you prepare to go about your day today: “No one knows what God looks like,” we can say to ourselves, “but they will in a minute…”

As I was reading Today’s Catch this thought wouldn’t escape my mind: A few weeks after I had became “A Christian” (now-in-days I prefer to say a follower of Jesus – Thx to Pastor John. Anyway, I was working on a Car in a neighbor’s garage putting a new a painting job on it and he asked me: Hey Mark I heard you became a Christian and going to Church and stuff – All I could think of saying was after I met Jesus EVERYTHING looks different.

Many years later he told me about how him & wife had become believers too and he thanked me for my short but sweet testimony…

I have often thought about that b/c I from becoming involved in a good & very friendly Baptist Church and learning “Romans Road Map for Salivation” and becoming a Soul Winner for Christ, ALL I really needed to do was talk from my Heart about what Jesus had done to set me free!

That’s what He looks like to me – is FREEDOM from myself! Amen!

Well, cannot say enough about the positive image of God in so many ways. Thru his son Jesus to save all of us in grace and well, looking at the sky, a rainbow, mountains, water not polluted, faces of those who follow Jesus. So many ways he appears to each one of us and always be thankful for that.

      Hey John,
Thanks for sharing your Catch. Do love the visual of one “catch” being able to be multiplied and feed the thousands, or however many choose to partake in the meal. Regarding today’s Catch, it brings to mind Philip’s request to Jesus.
John 14:8-18 New International Version (NIV)
Philip said, “Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us.” Jesus answered: “Don’t you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father.
I think Jesus totally drove your point home about it having been His life’s reflection of The Father, now we being make in His image, reflecting Him to those in our “orbit”.
Thanks again for sharing your fish!
Happy belated Birthday as well (we share that day as well)

Sorry for the typo *made in His image. In eyeglass denial and borrowed my wife’s readers. Print is tiny on my phone (it couldn’t possibly be my eyesight)
