The meaning and simplicity of Christmas

O-come-let-us-adore-Him

I saw a Christmas card the other day and had an epiphany. I was suddenly gripped by the meaning and the simplicity of Christmas.

Christmas implores us to do the one thing that makes us whole — the one thing that gives us meaning — the one thing that will always be the one thing. Christmas implores us to do the one thing that God — the universe — and that, in fact, we want to do. Wise men from afar did it; the shepherds did it; the angels in the heavens did it; the little drummer boy did it; the sheep and the cows and the horses — indeed, all the animals — did it; the trees of the field did it; the trees that we decorate in our houses and on our front lawns do it; the lights that we light do it; the carols that we sing do it; the programs that we put on during this Christmastime do it.

Christmas implores us to do the one thing that God asks us to do that sums up all His commands — the one thing that if we do this, we are fulfilling all of God’s laws: Thou shalt love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength. Or as the Christmas card put it:

O COME LET US ADORE HIM!

This Christmas let this be our focus. May all the sights and sounds of Christmas all lead us to do one thing continually — O COME LET US ADORE HIM!

O come let us adore Him,

O come let us adore Him,

O come let us adore Him,

Christ, the Lord.

  1. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength.
The second commandment is equally important: Love your neighbor as yourself.
No other commandment is greater than these.

“Their joy, that’s the gift to you.”

Great Message. Great song of Come Let Us Adore Him. He loves us so much. I will be seeing a mental Health Doctor soon. It has been difficult since Mom passed away. Thanks Catch Family for always being there.
