Prayer Power

Then Esther sent this reply to Mordecai: “Go and gather together all the Jews of Susa and fast for me. Do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. My maids and I will do the same. And then, though it is against the law, I will go in to see the king. If I must die, I must die.” So Mordecai went away and did everything as Esther had ordered him. Esther 4:15-17

The edict had been issued; the notice had gone out to the whole empire, sealed by the king’s signet ring, that “all Jews—young and old, including women and children—must be killed, slaughtered, and annihilated on a single day. This was scheduled to happen on March 7 of the next year” (Esther 3:13). It’s important to note that it was a hard and fast rule of the Persian Empire that edicts by the king were irrevocable. Another one of those irrevocable rules was that no one could approach the king in his chamber without an invitation upon penalty of death. The only exception being someone to whom he extended his golden scepter. This was Esther’s only hope. So Esther called on all the Jews in the city to fast and pray for three days and on the third day she went in to see the king.

Esther was no dummy. She called upon the prayer power of the Jews in the capital city of Susa, center of the Persian Empire. Wouldn’t you have done the same thing had you the resources that Esther had? Well you do. You have the prayer power of a committed group of Prayer Warriors who pray around the clock on behalf of the whole Catch community. And you can call upon them at any time should you need specific prayer. And honestly, who doesn’t?

The Catch Ministry would not exist without the power of prayer. Prayer is basically participating with God. How He involves us in His work is a mystery, but nevertheless, He does, calling all Christ-followers to communicate with him through regular prayer.

We have a large community, and we have a great amount of prayer power available to each of us. When you press the prayer button on the catchjohnfischer.live website and send in a prayer request, you are initiating a series of events that can change the world. We are not just playing games here.

Initially, twelve Prayer Warriors whose faithfulness and steadfast service 24/7 are making this prayer ministry a reality. They receive your request and start praying immediately. The Prayer Warriors are a very special group of people. They take prayer and their assignment seriously.

We did not pick these people. They came to us at their own unction. We never put out a call for prayer warriors. The first one — the one who started it all — Catch MemberPartner (and musician) Dave Butler, came to us to ask if we would be open to a prayer ministry with those hand picked for the job. We said most definitely and asked what we needed to do. Dave said, “Do nothing. Wait until people come to you asking if their gift could be used.” And sure enough, within a month 11 other Catch members from all over the country, and not knowing each other, called to ask if their services could be used exclusively for The Catch Ministry and its people. (It’s as if the Holy Spirit sent out a memo.)

When taking their place as Catch Ministry Prayer Warriors, Shar’i and JJ wrote:

“After much prayer before we offered our services, we can truly, reverently, spiritually, and graciously say: we are yours forever on this journey. We know the Lord wants us to be used by, in, and for this Catch Ministry. We felt the tap on the shoulder months ago, and wanted to make certain we were hearing what we thought we were hearing. When we realized it was a “go” and we needed to step up, we did. I mean, I remember a man named Jonah, a town called Nineveh, and a BIG whale! We’ve learned not to tell God ‘No.’ So Praise the Lord and let’s get started!”

Now the only way we can describe these people, though it sounds kind of mercenary, is that they are professionals when it comes to prayer. Sometimes they are called intercessors. They stand in the gap. Prayer is not wishful thinking. It is a powerful spiritual weapon that cancels the plans of the evil one against the people of God and establishes our Lord’s plan for the huge work we are called to do, and these people wield that weapon. They have the hotline to heaven.

They not only pray; they know what to pray for. They pray according to the will of God. They take each of our requests and go before God and He shows them what to pray. And they pray until they have an answer. If they don’t hear back from you, they will keep on praying until they do.

So you are all invited to do like Esther and call upon our Prayer Warriors when the challenge is too great. Want to send a request right now? Click here.
