A Royal Priesthood of Grace

The words of a priest’s lips should preserve the knowledge of God, and people should go to him for instruction, for the priest is the messenger of the Lord of Heaven’s Armies. Malachi 2:7

For you are a chosen people. You are royal priests, a holy nation, God’s very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light. (1 Peter 2:9)

Now that we understand that all believers are prophets called to bring light, we must also grasp what it means that we are all priests. Not priests in robes, with phylacteries, or vestments, but humble servants entrusted with the knowledge of God and the message of reconciliation.

Think of it: if we were not here, there would be no knowledge of God in the land. We have been entrusted with the greatest truth ever told—that there is a God who made us in His image and desires a personal relationship with each of us. This is not merely information; it is transformation. We have met Him. We have experienced His mercy. And we carry Him within us as living proof for everyone that He can create light out of darkness.

We are the stewards of His message—the mediators of grace between God and humankind. People learn about God through us. This is why our hearts must reflect His compassion, not judgment. God is not vindictive or condemning; He is patient, forgiving, and relentlessly kind. Today is the day of salvation. He suspends His judgment because His desire is that none should perish but that all should come to repentance. (2 Peter 3:9)

So when people encounter us, what will they find? Will they sense the humility of grace, the tenderness of understanding, the clarity of truth wrapped in love? When they seek hope, will they discover a priestly heart that serves instead of withholds, listens before it speaks, embraces before it explains?

This is not the hour to withdraw or to wait out the world’s decline. This is the hour to engage—with eyes wide open and hearts turned outward—to reveal the goodness of God, through His love working out through us.

When we evangelicals reclaim this posture of respect and love, the church becomes a sanctuary instead of a courtroom. Hearts change not because of argument, but because of love lived out in action. That is the kind of faith that renews lives, restores trust, and reawakens the desire for God, especially among those who have long felt excluded.

As Citizens of the Catch Community, we are not a spiritual club or a private devotional circle. We are prophets and priests sent into the world to preserve the knowledge of God—to reveal who He is and how His mercy is for everyone.

So let our lips speak words that heal, our hands serve without judgment, and our presence remind each individual we meet that God has not forgotten them.

Because we are His priests, and this is our calling:
to stand between heaven and earth,
to shed light on the Word of God,
and to show His goodness in every act of love.

Devotional:

God entrusts His truth to leaders — not to control, but to care. We are all stewards of the message: protecting it, living it, and offering it with compassion. When people come to you for wisdom, what will they find? Let your words carry the weight of grace and the clarity of truth. Be the kind of presence where others encounter God’s voice.

Prayer Prompt:

Lord, make me a faithful steward of Your Word and a safe place for others.

Action Step:

Reach out to someone who seeks spiritual counsel and offer your presence or a listening ear.
