In case you haven’t noticed, we are running a MemberPartner campaign in conjunction with our discourse in the Book of Ruth. It’s a natural fit. The story of Ruth is about:

We live in a time when people are scattered, isolated, and often carrying burdens alone. We are all quietly longing for a place where we are seen, welcomed, and not required to prove ourselves before we belong. We feel like we are managing life alone. We are tired of presenting the version of ourselves we believe others expect to see. We long to belong in a place where grace is stronger than judgment. The Catch is that place. MemberPartners know that because that’s how they were accepted, and once that has happened to you, you want to give it to everyone else. That’s why we call that grace turned outward.

Ruth is the story of a foreigner — an immigrant — one who comes to a land where she doesn’t belong, and how she is welcomed and accepted and given a seat at the table and eventually a place in the line of spiritual royalty (Matthew 1:5). God has a place for anybody and everybody. Here at the Catch, we are open to all. Anybody and everybody is welcome. Our MemberPartners know that and are holding a seat at the table for you. We’re especially on the lookout for those who feel on the margins of society or the church — who feel judged instead of welcomed. Ruth was gleaning from the margins of the field when she was invited to a seat at the table by Boaz.

And here’s what we all have in common. We have all been redeemed from an impossible situation.

Sin.

That sin which we deserve to pay for because we are all equally guilty. (Talk about equality.) We are all the same in our sin. And yet, we have all been redeemed by our Kinsman-Redeemer, Jesus Christ. None of us deserve to be here, and yet here we are:

Clean
Forgiven
Loved
Welcomed

And committed to serving Him until nothing but death separates us (and it won’t)!

There are moments in a ministry’s life when expansion is not ambition — it’s obedience. We are in one of those moments.

George Bernard Shaw said, “Some men see things as they are and ask why. I dream things that never were and ask why not?”

In today’s world, it is tempting to just ask why? However, God has not called us to simply condemn the dark. No, he has called us to shine a light.

Our MemberPartners have taken up this call throughout this ministry with their support both financially and spiritually. They have been the heartbeat of this ministry. They have been faithful in good times and not so good times.

According to Philanthropy Today, their loyalty is the envy of other nonprofit organizations that experience membership turnover. Having lost but a few over the years, that kind of faithfulness is not normal. It is sacred. And it tells us something: our expansion is real because we continue to build forward together.

We are also rewarding our MemberPartners with an expansion of benefits available to them as we work together to form a supportive faith community which can impact the world for Christ this year.

This Year’s Campaign

The theme of this year’s campaign is “Belonging.” Those of you who have been with us know that we don’t consider you subscribers or donors, but family. Many of us like Ruth, sometimes find ourselves strangers in a strange land in a world that is often contentious and anxiety-ridden. We are more connected than ever, and yet many feel lonely.

The cure is a sense of belonging. That is something we feel here at The Catch. Our MemberPartners form a community of support for this ministry.

In recognition of that, we are launching our enhanced MemberPartner Program. It is our gift to our faithful supporters.

Community: Our Shared Home Base

During this campaign, we will launch Johnny’s Café, our new MemberPartner Community Center. This will be the central hub for activity, learning, and fellowship. A place designed for interactivity without the noise.
