Rebuilding Together

OIP-13

Recognizing the urgent need for the Gospel of Welcome in our communities worldwide, we’re launching the “Rebuilding Together” initiative today. Our primary goal is to stabilize and revitalize The Catch Ministry, ensuring its sustainability and continued growth in the digital age.

Taking that first step

by Marti Fischer

The first step towards your dream job

Have you ever felt fear creeping in and taking control? One moment you’re capable of love and generosity, and the next, you find yourself slipping into a state of smallness, doubting your abilities and desires?

Fear manifests itself in various forms — fear of rejection, fear of inadequacy — and can confine us to a comfort zone that stifles growth and fulfillment. It convinces us that venturing beyond our perceived limitations is too risky, leaving us trapped in a cycle of un-fulfillment and inertia.

The road ahead

by John Fischer with Darin Sigler

R-3

MemberPartner Darin Sigler is experiencing something a number of our older readers are facing right now — a slight bend in the road. They are facing diminishing energy and a sense that their most significant works may be behind them. The “carousel of time” may be slowing down in preparation for them to get off soon.

Every morning

by John Fischer and Pam Lundy

OIP-11

Today’s MemberPartner offering comes from Pam Lundy. This is such a privilege to hear from some of our MemberPartners. It is a chance to not only grow from hearing what they have learned from life to share with us, but it is a chance to get to know a little bit about who they are. We happen to believe that our MemberPartners are some of the best people on earth. And for that reason, you may want to consider becoming a one yourself. The camaraderie is strong. The bond is unbreakable.

Soul-sisters

by John Fischer and Priscilla Fraser

OIP-10

We are featuring writings by a number of our MemberPartners this week. This one comes from Priscilla from New York. Like many of our dear MemberPartners, Priscilla has been with us for a long time. We have been through a lot together including the loss of her beloved husband, Jack. In this writing, she reveals how you never know what might happen when you extend yourself beyond your comfort zone to another person.

Calm amidst the storm

by John. Fischer, King David, and Paul Sonkowsky

OIP-8

Be still in the presence of the Lord,

and wait patiently for him to act.

Don’t worry about evil people who prosper

or fret about their wicked schemes.

Psalm 37:7

Let me remind you why we are spending so much time on Psalm 37 this week. It’s because the message of this psalm is particularly relevant to our world right now and to the anxieties and fears people, including some within the church, are struggling with. Mostly, it’s about how those fears and anxieties drive us away from our core message and purpose for being in the world in the first place.

Red light; green light

by John Fischer, King David, Frederick Lehman, and Dave Lambert

OIP-7

In the process of researching what is meant by, “Take delight in the Lord,” I ran across the lyrics of one of my favorite hymns, “The love of God.”  If not my favorite hymn, certainly, my favorite verse from a hymn:

Shining light on the justice of your cause

by John Fischer, King David and Mike High

OIP-5

Take delight in the Lord,
and he will give you your heart’s desires.

Commit everything you do to the Lord.
Trust him, and he will help you.

He will make your innocence radiate like the dawn,
and the justice of your cause will shine like the noonday sun. Psalm 37:4-6

Remember how this Psalm started? Don’t worry about the wicked. Don’t get all wrapped up in how bad the world is getting. It’s so easy to follow all the negative prompts on the news and the internet and get all twisted up inside as to what to do. That’s the beauty of this Psalm. David tells us what to do.

‘Don’t worry about the wicked’

by John Fischer, King David and Cynthia

OIP-4

Don’t worry about the wicked
or envy those who do wrong.

For like grass, they soon fade away.
Like spring flowers, they soon wither.

Trust in the Lord and do good.
Then you will live safely in the land and prosper.

A Psalm of David 37:1-3

It is incredible how scripture always seems to speak with pinpoint clarity to the issues of each generation thousands of years after it was written. In this case, a Psalm written by David roughly 3,000 years ago nails our current crisis so well, we are going to spend the week letting it speak to us. We are also going to hear from some of our MemberPartners as to how these truths relate to their own life experience.

Understanding who we are

1_Yu85HRs9rbTCaY2sIT2OXA

To be successful in approaching our theme, “Not Done Yet,” the first thing we as Citizens of the Catch Ministry need to do is push past preconceptions about the various generations’ mindsets and definitions. As one of our MemberPartners, Deborah Mullan, recently said about her Millennial generation:

“We are adults. Most of us are educated, we are in the work force. Many of us are married and responsible for children. If ever there was a consideration that we act as if we are privileged, we are over it.”
