No Catch (hardly)

Well it’s been about 24 hours since writing my last Catch and nothing much has changed. I have been flat on my back that whole time feeling like a freight train had just run over me, after first being hit by a semi. It has been humbling, to say the least. Two days ago, when Marti was in this predicament, I was starting to feel sick, but still up and around. In fact, I allowed myself a morsel of praise for the fact that I was up and she was down. Thinking that I felt as badly as she did but was able to drive myself on gave me a false sense of superiority. But alas, that was not to last. I got my taste of why she was in bed. When it hits you, it hits you; there’s no going on.

And now, with my first taste of feeling better, I have no Catch to deliver to you, except to remember that each day comes with its own grace. Take what is yours and don’t compare it with anyone. Receive each day what you have as coming from the hand of God and live accordingly.

*giggle* – I know….it’s not nice to laugh but your description of superiority makes me giggle. I am truly sorry that you are not feeling well and will pray that you recover quickly…. In the meantime, I am sure you are thinking of the next Catch and all will be back to normal shortly. If I were your employer, I would say “John, take the day off and the weekend to recover” 😉

That was an awfully inspirational message considering you’re flat on your back! Isn’t it reassuring to see how God can use us, speak through us even though we may be feeling like we have nothing to offer at the time?

I, too, am hoping & praying that you feel LOTS better SOON. I agree with Carole who said “John, take the day off and the weekend to recover.”

All of us “out here” care about you.

Sure hope you feel better really soon, John. I am almost over a bout with shingles. It’s something I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy. I sympathize with you and I have a lot more sympathy for Job these days. You are in our prayers.

Lois – I know what you are going through – it’s really hard to explain isn’t it? I have a friend who’s been through it twice with-in one year, even though she had the vaccine. I hope you get through this soon…

I really do sympathize with your condition, but your comments about feeling a bit surperior to Marti reminded me of Proverbs 16:18: Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall.
Get well soon John–and good for you for writing of your humbling experience.

John and Marti – wow – this bug has been going around here for months – it’s nasty and can sometimes linger for weeks (I’ve had it 8 weeks but it is finally subsiding). I hope you and Marti are get better really quickly.. – Thanks for your dedication to the Catch.. It’s inspiring that you it out even though you feeling horrible… Take care, and like others have said, take the day off and the entire weekend to get better.

    Wish you enough

When I read this catch, my sympathies were for you and your family, but I couldn’t help wonder what response this would bring from your readers. The sympathy and empathy is awesome! Yes John we truly love you and Marti! You have bared your soul for us catch after catch, it feels good to give some love back. You two are truly cared for by the ‘catch family’. Good for you for still sending a catch out when your body was racked by the flu. God works in mysterious ways but when there is an element of impossibility He shines. The shine is the love God sent you via your readers, and also from Himself. WOW!
