It was nice to meet you in person while I was in Anaheim. By the way, suggest to Brian to read about Roger Williams, founder of Rhode Island and champion of separation of church and state.
Some people voted for Trump, the person, his belligerence, his “stick it to the man” attitude.
Most people I’ve observed and talked with voted Republican, not Trump:
Traditional values–man and wife and two kids and a dog who go to church on Sundays. Well, maybe not the dog.
Business people voted for tax cuts and reduced regulation.
Wealthier people voted for tax cuts.
Anti-abortion followers still voting for more abortion restrictions.
Very small percentage are white nationalists, nazis, and the like.
One recent comment from a friend who is a traditionalist, “I wouldn’t want him as a friend, but I hope his policies are better than the democrats.”
I have gone through the stages of grief in just a week or so. But Kamala ran a bad campaign. Trump had a story. She had no story. No reason really to vote for her other than maybe to vote for a woman. The Democrats take too many people for granted and comments about despicable and trash (probably pointed at white nationalists) are picked up by solid, lower-middle-class people as pointed at them rendering the Democrats as seen as elitist snobs.
Regarding another comment in the podcast (which was good), think of Christian as either a noun or a verb rather than as an adjective. In my writing, I prefer Jesus-follower.
Blessings.
