There is only one Lord.
This makes it easy. It simplifies matters greatly. We don’t have any Lords to choose from. Name one Lord like our Lord. There is no contest. There is only one Lord and Savior of all mankind, and that would be Jesus. The Creator, Sustainer, Counselor, Prince of Peace. He is not a taskmaster. He is not a driver. He is not someone unacquainted with our infirmities. He is the Fairest Lord Jesus. His yoke is easy and His burden is light. And did I mention He holds everything together?
He is a Lord who walked among us. He took on our form; He literally walked in our shoes. He remembers that we are dust.
Who ever heard of a Lord who would wrap a towel around His waist, pick up a bowl of water and wash the feet of His followers? That’s our Lord.
Have you seen Jesus my Lord?
He’s here in plain view.
Take a look, open your eyes;
He’ll show it to you.
Have you ever looked at the sunset? Have you ever stood at the ocean? Have you ever looked at the cross? If you have, you have seen Jesus, the Lord.
The sunset is where He paints something live every night. His canvas is the sky; the clouds are His brushes. The ocean is where He moves. One after another, the crashing of the waves attest to His mighty power. And the fact that the ocean comes so far and no farther? That would be Him too.
And the cross … oh yes, the cross … that would be His ultimate statement of love. That is how far He would go to save us. It is indeed the greatest story ever told. The Lord of the universe dying for us. Why? Are we that valuable? No. But His love has made us so. It’s all made possible through His love. “This is real love—not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins.” (1 John 4:10)
One Lord. Our Lord. There is no other.
Beautifully, eloquently articulated and at the same time touched me deeply. What a God!
