Late in 2015, a Catch community data analyst was putting in some volunteer hours when noting approximately 12,000 millennials were landing on our dinosaur of a website monthly. “Why are you here?” we inquired. There was a multiple of responses, but the unifying and overall message was, “Your ministry is all about grace and its open 24/7.”
We spent a good deal of time getting to know this new audience. They gave us more than enough of themselves to apply to prayer. We are continuing to listen and slowly applying their good thinking into the Catch Ministry. As the message became succinct, we began to recognize we are being asked to be the voice of Christ for this century’s generations.
No small task and never possible without your participation, our Catch Ministry community citizens. Therefore, and before we begin to build a road map for your consideration, we require your good thinking.

Great to get to know more about these younger folks who took an interest in the Catch website. The best part is these millennials want to be a part of the best family of all walking with Jesus each day and learning more about that.
I know this is a way too simple suggestion, but I’ll throw it out there.
The Catch needs to be on Spotify. I listen to a devotional from Daily Bread on Spotify, why not The Catch? It would reach a lot more people.
Of course, Spotify is not the only venue, Apple Music and others are also very good.
The Catch is definitely relevant, it just needs to be broadcast more widely.

Q: In support of its desire to be the voice of Christ to this century’s generations, what, in your opinion are the Catch Ministry’s strengths?
A: The Catch is a unique voice in today’s culture. In my opinion, they have courageously crossed boundaries in order to see how the “other side” thinks. They make every effort to walk a while in the other’s shoes, withholding judgement and refusing to jump to quick conclusions with the typical stereotyping and profiling that has been so prevalent among American evangelicals.
Q: In support of its desire to be the voice of Christ to this century’s generations, what, in your opinion are the overall weaknesses of the Catch Ministry?
A: I really haven’t been associated with them long enough to discover any weaknesses.
Q: How do you think this century’s generations perceive the Catch Ministry?
A: From what I’ve been told by what I consider to be reliable sources, the Catch Ministry’s vision of grace turned outward and their determination to build bridges instead of walls, seems to resonate with this century’s generations. I think they perceive the Catch Ministry to be a Jesus-centered approach to what they’ve been taught about God, the Bible and the church.
Q: How do you think those 60 and over perceive the Catch Ministry?
A: Generally, I’d say my generation is not all that trusting of ministries like the Catch. We have been so indoctrinated in a traditional approach that imposes rules, restrictions and emphasizes a text-based-only path to knowing Jesus. It squelches liberty, creativity and a dependence on the Holy Spirit. In spite of the massive changes that have taken place over the past several years in American churches, my generation still looks on “social gospel” groups with suspicion. Some continue to believe that Christianity is primarily wrapped up in words, prayer meetings, Bible study and going to church. To my generation, reaching out and trying to understand the wider culture is largely ignored or treated with suspicion. We don’t want to hear how our message comes across to them, we just want to preach our perspective and expect that to change their lives. And when that doesn’t work, we sit back and criticize them without facts.
Q: What barriers must be overcome before the Catch Ministry can be the voice of Christ to this century’s generations?
A: I’m not sure. From what I’ve seen, the Catch Ministry is doing a pretty good job as it is.
Q: Provided the Catch Ministry is capable of overcoming the identified barriers, and hypothetically, if you were the Chair of the Catch Ministry’s vision to give the voice of Christ to this century’s generations, what would you like to see happen from the start? A: I’d like to see the Catch become the catalyst for a fresh, new Jesus movement. One that liberates instead of restricts, one that listens instead of talks, one that welcomes instead of rejects, one that unleashes the Holy Spirit instead of quenches him.
Q:Once again, hypothetically, if you were the Chair of the Catch Ministry’s voice of Christ to this century’s generations, who would you need on your team to successfully bring about what you identified you wanted to see from the start? Why these candidates? What skills and capacities do they have that you need?
A: I’m not sure who else, but I’d start with John & Marti Fischer and their close contacts in the music and performing industry.
Q: What do these people need in order to be successful? A: How about a lot of prayer and encouragement?
Q: What tools and resources would support their efforts? A: Access to the latest computer tech, mass communiction applictions… and sufficient finances
would be nice!
