‘But Lord …’

Today’s Catch is part of a new series on the story of Gideon, not like the one we ran seven years ago. It will carry new insights and current applications for all of us as believers, but especially for our MemberPartners — old and new.

The story of Gideon is the story of an ordinary guy who gets called to do something extraordinary, and for that reason, it applies to all of us. Now that doesn’t mean you’re going to be famous over five states. It means you’re going to do something that is extraordinary for you — something that might be easy for someone else, but for you it seems impossible. And it’s not just anything that’s difficult, it’s something that God has called you to do, just like He called Gideon, but you don’t want to; you’re afraid; or you don’t think you can do it.

“But Lord,” Gideon replied, “how can I rescue Israel? My clan is the weakest in the whole tribe of Manasseh, and I am the least in my entire family!” (Judges 6:15)

The weakest clan in his tribe and the smallest in his family. Sounds like Gideon is the runt of the litter. But none of that matters because of one thing, and one thing alone: “I will be with you.” (Judges 6:16) It’s the same thing Jesus said to His disciples when he sent them out to make disciples of all the nations: “I am with you always.” It doesn’t matter who you are; it matters only who He is, and the fact that He is always with you.

But … “if the Lord is with us, why has all this happened to us? And where are all the miracles our ancestors told us about?” What Gideon is about to find out is that he and 300 warriors will soon be part of a new miracle rolling out over time that future generations will partake in, including us, today. Gideon and his warriors were part of our miracle!

And indeed, our miracles continue today. Our MemberPartners are walking miracles. They have placed thousands of “boots on the ground” in 143 countries worldwide who are part of that miracle, making a difference in the lives of many.  God is making incredible miracles out of all of our lives, for that matter, bringing us into the knowledge of Him, giving us gifts and sending us out as His disciples. We are a big part of His ongoing miracle.

We do not speak enough today about our MemberPartners — your MemberPartners. Ladies and gentlemen, allow me to present the Catch Ministry’s MemberPartners:

Our MemberPartners possess a personal, ongoing relationship with the Ministry and its principals, often serving as volunteers, and having intimate input into Ministry decisions, its future, and use of donor funds for productivity and reach.

Our MemberPartners share the ministry’s driving passion and embrace its purpose by providing for its foundation. They too are tired of drive-by evangelism and support the Ministry’s ordained ministers trained in the Biblical understanding of the prophetic Word. Together our MemberPartners serve as transparent catalysts for all, and with great emotional strength, spiritual truth, and endurance, bring a heightened sensitivity to the needs of our world. We call it the Gospel of Welcome — Grace turned Outward.

Like many, MemberPartners receive personal benefit from the ministry’s daily Catch that has often significantly affected their lives. They understand that many others respond in very personal ways to the hope of the Gospel of Welcome — Grace Turned Outward. They recognize for many people it is a beacon of hope, the only one they can see in their sometimes dire struggle to live out their convictions and their relationships with Christ.

MemberPartners are becoming the change they want to see in the world. That, in itself is a miracle.

You, too might want to step out from behind Gideon’s winepress and make a significant difference in many, many more people’s lives by becoming a MemberPartner today — be part of that miracle rolling out over time.

I knew very little about Gideon until now and sounds like he had so much courage coming out of hiding and the courage of the Member Partners is really something and hopefully millions will follow this and develop a strong relationship with Christ as i always feel I need to have a better one with Jesus especially after a long stressful week of work, Ha! This is important anytime even when all seems calm. Take care, God Bless, and Godspeed.
