The flick of a switch

OIP

How do you want to go out, with a bang or a whimper? Do you want to rust away from lack of use or blaze out like a comet across the sky? What are we here for? To create a comfortable existence or to serve the Lord and our fellow man and woman? Stop thinking of your life as a continuum with an arc of effectiveness with diminishing returns at the end. Stop making excuses for your lack of momentum and decreasing energy. Stop thinking that you might be done. We are never done until we’re dead.

Think of life as a light switch. There are only two choices, on or off. There is no rheostat version of this switch available. It’s the flick of a switch. On or off. Done, or not done. It will always be this way up until the end. There’s no continuum.

With this in mind, we are pioneers in the 21st century with the same kind of fervor we’ve always had. What does that mean? It means to awaken what was once the pioneer spirit in our youth during the Jesus Movement. Only there is a difference. Today it is not just all about Jesus and the gospel and the end of the world; it’s about all that AND relationships. This is a relationship movement. It’s about introducing Jesus through relationships. The information age is over. Everything you want to know now is on the internet. You can google anything, but we have lost what makes us human. We are islands unto ourselves floating in a vast universe of space, bumping into each other but not touching.

Our minds are overdeveloped, our souls are malnourished and shriveled. We are disconnected. We may be connected to the Lord by faith, but how much of the Lord can you know divorced from relationships with those who are in His image. If every person in His creation bears His image, how can you know Him without knowing them? And how can you know them outside of a relationship with them?

We have our work cut out for us. And it’s going to be thrilling. Are you ready to join us? Are you switched on?

Mr Fischer I would like you and the Catch Family to pray for my brother Shane who lives in Western Kentucky outside of a house in Wingo Kentucky. He has pneumonia, lost his job, all alone, and thankfully he contacts our cousin Barry who lives in a place for assisted living. I pray for him each day. The switch is on to pray for him and hopefully he will find his faith again.
