My How the News Travels

A newspaper leaves Ben’s hand, lands on a porch, and disappears inside a house. What happens next? Ben and Jonathan will probably never know. Maybe somebody will glance at the headlines; maybe somebody will find out what their favorite local sports team did, maybe someone will read the obituary about a friend who had died; maybe somebody’s canary cage will get a new flooring; maybe it will just get dropped unread in the recycle bin because no one had the time for it.

In the same way, we get our news out here at the Catch, but much of the ministry happens beyond our sight.

For instance:

The Daily Catch is sent.
Somebody in one of 143 countries opens it.
Someone forwards it.
Someone replies.
Someone asks for prayer.
Someone begins a conversation.
Someone discovers Christ.
Someone else begins to disciple that person.
Grace moves.

And we have stories that come back to us from people who find the Catch an oasis in a desert of bad news. People who spend their lunch break with the Catch. Someone comments with gratitude about an understanding of Christ and following Him that contrasts with the ways of the world and current popular Christianity. Those who are grateful for how we help them think through their faith in a world full of lies and conspiracies.

And then there are stories about answered prayer, about comfort in counseling, about transformation through the understanding of the Holy Spirit’s presence in one’s life, and reports of the freedom the new covenant brings.

And stories of relationships, that have come through connecting with others within the Catch community.

This week we are going to share some of those stories with you — stories about what happens after the news lands on the porch and slides under the door. Stories that keep us committed to the importance of getting the news out every day.
